Manila FAME trade show generated P6.73-B sales in export, domestic, and retail the past 5 years

Manila FAME, the Philippines’ premier design and lifestyle event, has earned more than PHP 6.73 billion export, local, and retail sales and has generated at least 134,690 jobs from 2012 to 2016.

Its organizer, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the export promotions arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), has been consistent on its goal to develop the country’s export and local sales while simultaneously contributing to easing the unemployment rate in the Philippines.

“We will continue to reach out to new foreign trade buyers and sustain our loyal ones, as we expand the base of export-capable micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the Filipino world-class designers,” said Clayton Tugonon, newly appointed CITEM executive director.

CITEM expects over PHP 843 million export, local, and retail sales and 17,000 job opportunities for the Manila FAME April and October 2017 editions.

Tugonon further said that the goal of Manila FAME will be made possible through the country’s sustained strategic participation in the export industry’s overseas marketing events, and a strengthened collaboration with business support organizations.

“Although the bars were set high, CITEM believes that we can reach this goal through the consistent promotion of the Manila FAME locally and internationally,” he added.

The 65th edition of Manila FAME, running from April 21-23, 2017 will focus on the lucrative design services and architectural and interior contract projects for real estate and hospitality developments in key regions in the Philippines, Middle East, and Asia.

Over 300 local MSMEs are expected to showcase their designs and artisanship at the Manila FAME, which is slated at the World Trade Center Metro Manila and Philippine Trade Training Center.

Top buyers from local and international companies including Target Corporation, Tokyu Hands Inc,, Galeries Lafayette, UMA Enterprise Inc., Pottery Barn, Pier 1 Imports, SM Development Corporation, Rustan's, and Ayala Malls are expected to attend the three day event.
